Engine Wiring and Battery Positive Cable Harness Replacement (LLT)

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).




2. Remove the junction block cover (4).
3. Remove the junction block nut (3).
4. Remove the engine harness and the battery positive cable terminal from the junction block terminal (1).
5. Remove the engine harness and the battery positive cable (2).




6. Remove the battery positive cable terminal (2) and the junction nut (1), from the fuse block.




7. Remove the starter heat shield. Refer to Starter Shield Replacement (LLT) (Service and Repair)Starter Shield Replacement (LS3/L99) (Service and Repair).
8. Remove the battery positive cable nut (1) and the battery positive cable terminal (2), from the starter.




9. Remove the battery positive cable generator nut (1) and the battery positive cable terminal (2), from the generator.




10. Disconnect the fasteners (1) that hold the harness to the frame.

Note: Visualize how the harness was routed within the engine compartment.

11. Remove the engine and battery positive cable harness from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Fasten the engine harness and the battery positive cable to the engine compartment with the harness retainers (1).




2. Install the battery positive cable terminal (2) and the generator nut (1). Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).




3. Install the battery positive cable terminal (2) and nut (1) to the starter. Tighten to 13 Nm (10 lb ft).




4. Install the engine harness and the battery positive cable terminal (1) to the junction block. Tighten the junction block nut (3) to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).




5. Install the battery positive cable terminal (2) to the fuse block. Tighten the fuse block nut (1) to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
6. Install the fuse block cover.
7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
