B2757

DTC B2757, B2762, B2767, or B2772

Diagnostic Instructions

* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis (Strategy Based Diagnosis) for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions (Diagnostic Procedure Instructions) provides an overview of each diagnostic category.

DTC Descriptors
DTC B2757
- Memory 1 Select Switch Circuit Low

DTC B2762
- Memory 2 Select Switch Circuit Low

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The memory seat switches are normally open and are wired to the driver window switch. When a memory recall switch is pressed, the switch pulls the 5 V signal circuit from the driver window switch to ground. The driver window switch senses that a memory recall signal was pulled low and a serial data message is sent to the memory seat module (MSM) identifying the memory request. The MSM responds to the request by commanding the driver seat to move to the preset positions.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* DTC B1327 must not be present.
* Battery voltage must be between 9-16 V.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B2757 or B2762
* The window switch will set these DTCs when a short to ground is detected on a switch signal circuit.
* The DTCs will also set if a memory recall switch is active for 30 seconds or more.

Actions Taken When the DTC Sets

All memory recall functions are disabled.

Conditions for Clearing the DTCs

* The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
* The history DTC will clear once 50 consecutive fault-free ignition cycles have occurred.

Diagnostic Aids

The memory seat module is also referred to as the Driver Position Module in certain scan tool menus.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Driver Door Switch Memory Recall Switches parameter while pressing and releasing the memory 1 switch. The reading should change between Idle and Memory 1.
2. Observe the scan tool Driver Door Switch Memory Recall Switches parameter while pressing and releasing the memory 2 switch. The reading should change between Idle and Memory 2.
3. Observe the scan tool Driver Door Switch Memory Recall Switches parameter while pressing and releasing the EXIT switch. The reading should change between Idle and Exit.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the memory seat adjuster switch.
2. Test for less than 5 Ohms between the ground circuit terminal C and the ground.

If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Memory Recall Switches parameter is Idle.

If not the specified value, test the appropriate signal circuit listed below for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the driver window switch.

* Memory 1 terminal A
* Memory 2 terminal B

4. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and ground. Verify the scan tool Memory Recall Switches parameter is Memory 1.

If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the driver window switch.

5. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal B and ground. Verify the scan tool Memory Recall Switches parameter is Memory 2.

If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the driver window switch.

6. Install 3 A fused jumper wires between both signal circuit terminals listed below and ground. Verify the scan tool Memory Recall Switches parameter is Exit.

* Memory 1 terminal A
* Memory 2 terminal B

If not the specified value, replace the driver window switch.

7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the memory seat adjuster switch.

Component Testing

Memory Seat Adjuster Switch
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the memory seat adjuster switch.
2. Test for infinite resistance between the ground terminal C and the signal terminals listed below with the switch in the open position:

* Memory 1 terminal A
* Memory 2 terminal B

If not the specified value, replace the memory seat adjuster switch.

3. Test for less than 1 Ohms between the signal terminal A and the ground terminal C with the memory 1 switch in the closed position.

If greater than the specified range, replace the memory seat adjuster switch.

4. Test for less than 1 Ohms between the signal terminal A and the ground terminal C with the EXIT switch in the closed position.

If greater than the specified range, replace the memory seat adjuster switch.

5. Test for less than 1 Ohms between the signal terminal B and the ground terminal C with the memory 2 switch in the closed position.

If greater than the specified range, replace the memory seat adjuster switch.

6. Test for less than 1 Ohms between the signal terminal B and the ground terminal C with the EXIT switch in the closed position.

If greater than the specified range, replace the memory seat adjuster switch.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

* Driver Seat Adjuster Memory Switch Replacement (Removal and Replacement)
* Control Module References (Programming and Relearning) for driver window switch replacement, setup, and programming
