Fuel Tank Draining (E-85)

Special Tools

* J 36850 Transjel Lubricant
* J 45004 Fuel Tank Drain Hose

Warning

Never drain or store fuel in an open container. Always use an approved fuel storage container in order to reduce the chance of fire or explosion.

Warning

Place a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby before performing any on-vehicle service procedures. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury.

1. Raise and Support the Vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair)





Note: Lubricate the fuel drain hose with J 36850 or equivalent to aid in hose insertion. Do not use an unapproved lubricant.

2. Loosen the lower drain hose clamp in order to separate the drain hose from the fuel tank (1).
3. Insert the J 45004 into the fuel tank (1) until the hose reaches the bottom of the fuel tank.
4. Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel from the fuel tank as possible.
