Battery Positive Cable Replacement (LY7)

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LE5, LE9, LY7) (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
2. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the battery.




3. Loosen the battery positive cable bolt (4) at the junction block and remove the cable from the junction block.
4. Remove the battery positive cable clip (3) from the battery tray.
5. Remove the tape holding the battery negative cable to the battery positive cable.




6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
7. Remove the battery positive cable retainer bolt (1) from the engine block.
8. Remove the battery positive cable nut (2) from the starter solenoid.
9. Remove the battery positive cable terminal (3) from the starter solenoid.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Remove the battery positive cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Route the battery positive cable to the starter and the battery.
2. Raise the vehicle.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the battery positive cable retainer bolt (1) to the engine block and tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
4. Install the battery positive cable terminal (3) and nut (2) to the starter solenoid stud and tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb in).
5. Lower the vehicle.




6. Install the battery positive cable bolt (4) to the junction block and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
7. Install the battery positive cable clip (3) to the battery tray.
8. Install tape to secure the battery negative cable to the battery positive cable.
9. Install the battery positive cable to the positive terminal of the battery.
10. Tighten the battery positive cable bolt and tighten to 17 Nm (13 lb ft).
11. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LE5, LE9, LY7) (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
