Fuel Feed Pipe and Fuel Rail Installation




1. Install the left fuel rail (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the left fuel rail bolt (2) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




3. Install the intake manifold heat shield (2).
4. Install the intake manifold heat shield bolts (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




5. Install the right fuel rail (1).
6. Install the right fuel rail bolts (2) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).





Warning

Improper torque methods of the fuel lines will result in fuel leaks and possible damage to the engine. Failure to follow proper fuel line fitting torque methods could result in serious personal injury.

7. Install the left fuel injector pipes (2) and tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
8. Install the left fuel injector pipe bolts (1) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

9. Install the right fuel injector pipes (2) and tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
10. Install the left right injector pipe bolts (1) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




11. Install the fuel feed hose bolt (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




12. Install the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve bracket (1).
13. Install the EGR valve bracket bolt (2) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




14. Install the fuel feed pipe clip bracket (2).
15. Install the fuel feed pipe clip bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




16. Install the fuel feed hose (3).
17. Install the fuel feed pipe (2).
18. Install the fuel feed pipe bolts (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




19. Install the fuel return pipe (2).
20. Install the fuel return pipe bolt (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




21. Install the high pressure fuel rail crossover pipe (4) and tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
22. Install the high pressure fuel rail crossover pipe bolts (1) and (3) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
23. Install the high pressure fuel rail crossover pipe bolt (2) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




24. Install the high pressure fuel rail pipe (2) and tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
25. Install the high pressure fuel rail pipe bolt (1) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




26. Install the indirect fuel injector assembly (5) and fuel feed pipe assembly (2).
27. Install the indirect fuel injector bolts (3) and (4) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
28. Install the fuel feed pipe clip bolt (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
29. Install the fuel feed pipe eye bolt (6) and washers (7) and tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb in).




30. Install the fuel injector fuel return line assembly (1).




31. Inspect the O-rings (1) for damage. Replace if necessary.
32. Inspect the fuel return line locking tabs (2) for damage. Replace the fuel return line assembly if necessary.
33. With the cylindrical locking sleeve 3) released in the upward position, install the fuel return line to the fuel injector.
34. Press down on the locking sleeve (3) to secure the connection.
35. Repeat steps 31-34 for the remaining injectors.




36. Install the fuel pressure sensor bracket (4).
37. Install the fuel pressure sensor bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
38. Install the fuel pressure sensor (2) and tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb in).
39. Install the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose (3).




40. Install the fuel return hose (1).
41. Install the fuel return pipe (3).
42. Install the fuel return pipe bracket bolt (3) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




43. Install the fuel return hose (2).
44. Install the fuel return pipe (3).
45. Tighten the fuel return pipe fitting (1) to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
46. Install the fuel return pipe bolt (4) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




47. Install the fuel feed hose (1).
48. Install the fuel feed pipe (5).
49. Install the upper fuel pipe bracket clip (3).
50. Install the upper fuel pipe bracket clip bolt (2) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
51. Install the fuel feed pipe bolt (4) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
52. Install the fuel temperature sensor (6) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
