Engine Wiring and Battery Positive Cable Harness Replacement (LSA)

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.




2. Remove the junction block cover (4).

3. Remove the junction block fastener (3).

4. Remove the engine harness and the battery positive cable terminal from the junction block terminal (1).

5. Remove the engine harness and the battery positive cable (2).




6. Disconnect the battery positive cable terminal (2) and the junction fastener (1) from the fuse block.




7. Remove the starter heat shield. Refer to Starter Shield Replacement (LSA) Service and Repair.

8. Remove the battery positive cable fastener (1) from the starter solenoid.

9. Remove the battery positive cable (2) from the starter solenoid.




10. Remove the battery positive cable generator fastener (1) and the battery positive cable terminal (2), from the generator.




11. Unclip the battery positive cable retainers (2) from the conduit bracket (3), below the oil pan.




12. Remove the battery positive cable retainers (2) from the right frame and electric power steering assembly.





Note: Visualize how the harness was routed within the engine compartment.

13. Remove the engine and the battery positive cable harness (1) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

1. Install the battery positive cable terminal (2) to the fuse block. Tighten the fuse block fastener (1) to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).

2. Install the fuse block cover.




3. Install the battery positive cable retainers (2) to the right frame rail and electric power steering assembly.




4. Install the battery positive cable retainers (2) into the battery cable conduit (3) below the oil pan.




5. Install the battery positive cable terminal (3) and the generator fastener (2). Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).

6. Install the generator protective boot (1).




7. Install the battery positive cable terminal (2) and fastener (1) to the starter. Tighten to 13 Nm (10 lb ft).




8. Install the engine harness and the battery positive cable terminal (1) to the junction block. Tighten the junction block fastener (3) to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).

9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
