Air Conditioning Refrigerant Service Valve Core Replacement

Tools Required

* GE-39400-A - Halogen Leak Detector

* GE-46246 - Valve Core Removal Tool

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.

Removal Procedure

1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.




2. Use GE-46246 - Valve Core Removal Tool or equivalent to remove the valve core.

Installation Procedure




1. Use GE-46246 - Valve Core Removal Tool or equivalent to install and tighten the valve core.

2. Evacuate and charge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.

Important: To prevent loss of refrigerant charge, tighten the cap. Replace the cap if the seal is missing or damaged.


3. Test the affected A/C fittings for leaks using GE-39400-A - Halogen Leak Detector.
