Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair




Crankshaft Position Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector (3).

2. Remove the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement Service and Repair.





3. Remove the positive battery cable nut (2) from the starter solenoid.

4. Remove the positive battery cable (3) from the starter solenoid.





5. Remove the CKP sensor bolt.

6. Remove the CKP sensor.

Installation Procedure





1. Lubricate the CKP sensor O-ring seal with clean engine oil.

2. Install the CKP sensor.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Install the CKP sensor bolt.

Tighten the sensor bolt to 10 Nm (89 lb in).





Note:
Ensure that the engine harness terminal (4) is still installed on the starter solenoid.

4. Install the positive battery cable (3) to the starter solenoid.

5. Install the positive battery cable nut (2) to the starter solenoid.

Tighten the nut to 10 Nm (89 lb in).





6. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector (3).

7. Install the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement Service and Repair.
