DTC P2534
- Ignition 1 Switch Circuit Low Voltage

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The trailer brake control module monitors the ignition voltage circuit in order to determine if the voltage is within the normal operating range.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* Ignition ON.
* Battery voltage is 9.5-17 V.
* The module is powered up and completes initialization.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The trailer brake control module detects that the ignition voltage is less than 6 V.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* The trailer brake control will be disabled for the remainder of the ignition cycle.
* The driver information center will display Service Trailer Brake System.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
* When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
* A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Engine running, accessories OFF, measure and record the battery voltage at the battery terminals. The voltage should be between 12.6 and 15.0 V.

If not within the specified range, refer to Charging System Test Testing and Inspection.

2. Observe the scan tool Trailer Brake Control Module Battery Voltage Signal. The reading should be between 12.6 and 15.0 V.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K67 trailer brake control module.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 15 and ground.

If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

3. If all circuits test normal, replace the K67 trailer brake control module.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification Verification Tests after completing the diagnostic procedure.
