Service Procedure

Tech 2 Tool Update

Update Tech 2 with new program file through TIS2WEB. Use custom setup. Navigation: North American Operations > 32.007-32MB.
































Note
Using a Tech 2, update the engine control module (ECM) with an engine serial number ESN. Refer to the Engine Serial Number Table shown above to obtain the ESN.

1. Select F0: Diagnostics from the Main Menu screen. Press enter to continue.

2. Select (D) 2013 from the Vehicle Identification screen. Press enter to continue.

3. Select LD Trk, MPV, Incomplete from the Vehicle Identification screen. Press enter to continue.

4. Select Chevrolet Truck or GMC Truck from the Vehicle Identification screen. Press enter to continue.

5. Select G from the Vehicle Identification screen. Press enter to continue.

6. Select Express/Savana from the Vehicle Identification screen. Press enter to continue.

7. Select F0: Powertrain from the Diagnostics screen. Press enter to continue.

8. Determine engine type: gasoline or diesel.

- If the vehicle is equipped with a diesel engine, refer to Diesel Engine Process in this bulletin.

- If the vehicle is equipped with a gasoline engine, refer to Gasoline Engine Process in this bulletin.

Diesel Engine Process

1. Select (L) 6.6L V8 LGH Diesel from the Vehicle Identification screen. Press enter to continue.

2. Select F1: Engine Control Module from the Powertrain screen. Press enter to continue.

3. Select F6: Module Setup from the Engine Control Module screen. Press enter to continue.

4. Select Engine Serial Number from the Module Setup screen. Press enter to continue.





Note
Left and right arrows on the Tech 2 will allow the user to scroll between the different engine serial number characters. Up and down arrows on the Tech 2 allow the user to scroll between alphanumeric characters.

6. After selecting Engine Serial Number, directions will appear that explain how to input the engine serial number (ESN). Press enter to continue.





7. In order for the Save soft key to work, scroll to the end of the engine serial number characters. Press Save to write the ESN to the engine control module (ECM). Press enter to continue.





8. Refer to the (A) portion of the illustration to view what the Tech 2 screen will look like when inputting the ESN. Use the arrows to input the ESN.

1. After inputting the engine serial numbers, press the Save button. The Tech 2 will read and display the current value in the ECM. A default of all zeros will appear if no data is stored.

2. Refer to the (B) portion of the illustration to view a sample ESN displayed on the Tech 2. Diesel engine serial numbers have 13 characters.





9. Refer to the illustration to view the Programming Successful screen. Verify that the ESN is correct. If the ESN is NOT correct, navigate to the appropriate ESN screens to re-input the ESN.

Gasoline Engine Process

1. Select correct gasoline engine, either G 6.0L V8 L96 or B 6.0L V8 LC8, from the Vehicle Identification screen. Press enter to continue.

2. Select F0: Engine Control Module from the Powertrain screen. Press enter to continue.

3. Select F6: Module Setup from the Engine Control Module screen. Press enter to continue.

4. Select F1: Engine Serial Number from the Module Setup screen. Press enter to continue.
