Alternator: Service and Repair





Generator Replacement (LCV,LTG)

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (LCV) Air Cleaner Outlet Duct ReplacementAir Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (LTG) Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.

3. Remove the secondary air injection pump inlet hose (LCV Engine) , if equipped. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pump Inlet Hose Replacement Secondary Air Injection Pump Inlet Hose Replacement.

4. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement Service and Repair.

5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.




6. Remove the protective boot (1) and the battery positive cable fastener (2).

7. Remove the battery positive cable terminal (3) and the engine harness connector (4).




8. Remove the lower generator mounting fastener (2).




9. Remove the upper generator mounting fasteners (1) and secondary air injection pump inlet hose bracket, if equipped.




10. Remove the generator (1) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

Note: Position the secondary air injection pump inlet hose bracket to the generator (LCV Engine), if equipped.

1. Install the generator (2) into position and tighten the fasteners (1) to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).




2. Install the generator lower mounting fastener (2) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).

3. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (LCV) Air Cleaner Outlet Duct ReplacementAir Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (LTG) Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.




4. Install the battery positive cable (3) to the back of the generator and tighten the fastener (2) to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).

5. Install the protective boot (1) and connect the engine wiring harness connector (4).

6. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement Service and Repair.

7. Install the secondary air injection pump inlet hose (LCV Engine) , if equipped. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pump Inlet Hose Replacement Secondary Air Injection Pump Inlet Hose Replacement.
