Locking Differential Assemble (11.5 Inch Axle)

Note: The left and right side gear backlash and thrust block thickness measurement must be completed before the components

before the components of the locking differential can be assembled.





Note: The left differential clutch pack is the one closest to the ring gear. The right differential clutch pack is opposite the ring gear.

1. Install the differential side gear shim (5).

2. Install the left side differential clutch disc pack (3) retaining ring (4).

3. Install the right differential clutch disc pack (1).

4. While holding the right differential clutch pack in place, install the locking differential thrust block (2).




5. Install the differential pinion shims (5) and (2) along with the differential pinion gears (3) and (4) in the differential case (1).




6. Install the locking differential governor (1).




7. Using hammer and a punch, install the governor bushing until there is 0.25-1.27 mm (0.010-0.050) of shaft end play.




8. Install the locking differential latching bracket (1).




9. Using hammer and a punch, install the latching bracket bushing until there is 0.000-0.051 mm (0.000-0.002) of shaft end play.




10. Install the differential pinion gear shaft (2).

11. Position the differential pinion gear shaft pin (1).




12. Using a hammer and a punch (1), install the differential pinion gear shaft pin (2).

13. Install the ring gear.
