TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES CHEVROLET DEALER BULLETIN 87-T-75, DATED FEBRUARY, 1987, ALL COPIES OF WHICH SHOULD BE DESTROYED AS THEY CONTAIN AN INCORRECT PART NUMBER.

FIGURE NO. 1:

Some 1985-86 C/K and 1987 R/V Suburbans may experience a condition of chipped tailgate windows due to the use of one or more self tapping hex screws (A) in place of a torx head tapping screw (B) shown in Figure No. 1. These screws attach the rear upper roof trim panel to the roof header.
Use of these hex head screws results in the tailgate window being trapped between the run channel seal and the screw head. Repeated use of the tailgate window wears the run channel seal in this area and allows the window to contact the screw head and chip the window.

If tailgate window chipping occurs, check for the use of hex head screws in the area mentioned. If found, replace with torx head screw P.N 11505031. Use of hex screws was discontinued in production beginning with the following VIN breakpoints:
