Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

1985 & 1988
Trouble code are set in the ECM memory whenever a system malfunctions is encountered during normal driving operation. To prevent loss of trouble codes when the ignition switch is turned off, a fused battery feed feed is connected to the ECM.
To clear trouble codes, remove ECM fuse from fuse panel. After approximately 10 seconds, reinstall fuse.
