Input Carrier & Sun Gear
1. Inspect input carrier assembly for pinion gear damage, improper pin stake or worn or damaged thrust bearing.2. Inspect input carrier assembly for excessive pinion washer wear. Endplay should not exceed .008-.024 inch.
3. Inspect thrust washers for wear or damage.
4. Inspect input sun gear for bushing damage or wear, cracks and damaged spline or gear teeth.
5. Install input carrier assembly onto output shaft.
6. Install retainer ring into output shaft ring groove. Do not reuse old retainer ring if it has been overexpanded.
7. Remove output shaft support fixture tool, No. J-29837, from case, then install thrust washer onto input carrier assembly.
8. Install input sun gear into input carrier.
