Owner's Letter

October 17, 1989

Dear Chevrolet Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

REASON FOR THIS RECALL

General Motors has determined that certain 1989 Chevrolet C/K 15-35 Series Light Duty Trucks were produced at Oshawa Truck Assembly Plant with incorrect or missing vehicle certification labels. The trucks were assembled correctly. The incorrect information or missing certification label fails to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 120, "Tire Selection and Rims for Vehicles Other Than Passenger Cars."

WHAT WE WILL DO

To correct this condition, it will be necessary to install a new certification label. Since a new certification label can be easily installed, and to reduce your inconvenience, we are enclosing a label with installation instructions. The label may be installed by you on the driver's door of your vehicle. However, if you desire, your Chevrolet dealer will install the label for you at no charge.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

Please let us know if you elect to install the label yourself by completing the enclosed postage paid owner reply card and returning it to us. This assists us in assuring that all affected vehicles have been corrected. If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please let us know by completing the postage paid reply card and returning it to us.

Should you choose to have your local Chevrolet Dealer install the label for you, please bring the owner reply card, along with the enclosed label, to your servicing Chevrolet dealer. Please contact your dealer if you wish to know how much time will be needed to schedule and process your vehicle. Presentation of this card and label to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction in the shortest possible time.

Your Chevrolet dealer is best equipped to obtain parts and provide service to insure that your vehicle is corrected as promptly as possible. If, however, you take your vehicle to your dealer on the agreed service date, and they do not remedy this condition on that date or within five (5) days, we recommend you contact the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center by calling 1-800-222-1020.
