Fig. 9 Instrument Cluster Assembly Removal & Installations:






1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove headlamp switch and radio control knobs.
3. Remove four steering column cover attaching screws.
4. Disconnect transmission control cable from steering column, then remove steering column to dash panel attaching bolts and lower column.
5. Remove eight instrument cluster bezel attaching screws, then the bezel.
6. Reaching under instrument cluster, disconnect speedometer by depressing tang on rear of speedometer head and pulling cable free.
7. Disconnect cluster electrical connectors and remove cluster, Fig. 9.
8. Remove radio knob bezels, then retaining nuts and washer from front of the radio.
9. On models with AM radio, remove radio support bracket stud nut and lockwasher.
10. On models with AM/FM radio, remove radio support bracket to instrument panel screws.
11. On all models, lift up on rear edge of radio, then push radio rearward until control shafts clear instrument panel.
12. Lower radio far enough to disconnect antenna, electrical and speaker connectors.
13. Remove instrument panel top pad attaching screws, then the pad.
14. Remove glove box and door assembly.
15. Remove defroster grilles, then the heater and A/C control attaching screws.
16. Disconnect temperature and vent control cables from rear of control. Mark cables for assembly reference.
17. Remove instrument panel attaching bolts and nuts, then disconnect any additional electrical connectors and remove panel.
18. Reverse procedure to install.
