Engine Removal



Front Engine Mounting Brakets To Frame:




Front Engine Mounts To Brackets:





Remove or Disconnect

1. Remove negative battery cable.

2. Remove hood.

3. Drain the cooling system.

4. Remove air cleaner.

5. Remove accessory drive belt/s.

6. Remove fan and coolant pump pulley.

7. Remove radiator and shroud.

8. Disconnect heater hoses at the engine.

9. Disconnect accelerator and cruise control linkage from Throttle Body Injection (TBI) unit.

WARNING: High pressure refrigerant. Recover refrigerant properly.

10. Remove air conditioning compressor (if equipped) and lay aside.

11. Remove power steering pump (if equipped) and lay aside.

12. Disconnect engine wiring harness from the engine.

13. Disconnect fuel lines.

14. Disconnect vacuum lines from the intake manifold.

15. Raise the vehicle. Support with safety stands.

16. Drain the crankcase oil.

17. Disconnect exhaust pipes from the manifolds.

18. Disconnect strut rods at the engine mountings (if used).

19. Remove flywheel or torque converter underpan.

20. Disconnect wiring along oil pan rail (if used).

21. Remove starter.

22. Disconnect wiring, as necessary.

23. Remove converter to flex plate bolts (if equipped).

24. Lower the vehicle.

25. Support the transmission.

26. Attach a suitable lifting fixture.

27. Remove bell housing to engine bolts.

28. Remove front engine mounting to frame bolts.

29. Remove engine.
