Disassemble

1. Remove snap ring. Scribe mark on hub and sleeve for assembly reference.

2. Leave synchronizer rings on 3rd-4th synchronizer to prevent detent balls from falling out.

3. Using gear and bearing separator plate tool No. J22912-01 or equivalent and a hydraulic press, remove 3rd-4th synchronizer assembly, synchronizer rings and third speed gear.

4. Remove second speed gear assembly.

5. Remove first speed gear snap ring.

6. Remove synchronizer inner ring and middle blocker ring from mainshaft.

7. Using gear and bearing separator plate tool No. J22912-01 or equivalent and a hydraulic press, remove first speed gear and 1st-2nd synchronizer assembly. Scribe mark on hub and sleeve for assembly reference.

8. Leave synchronizer rings on 1st-2nd synchronizer to prevent detent balls from falling out.

9. Remove blocker ring, middle cone and inner ring from mainshaft.

10. Remove 5th speed gear.

11. Using gear and bearing separator plate tool No. J22912-01 or equivalent and a hydraulic press, remove reverse gear assembly, blocking ring and 5th-reverse synchronizer. Scribe mark on hub and sleeve for assembly reference.

12. Leave synchronizer rings on 5th-reverse synchronizer to prevent detent balls from falling out.
