Inspection
1. Inspect mainshaft for damaged splines and wear.2. Inspect rear internal gear for stripped splines, damaged teeth and wear.
3. Inspect output shaft for stripped
splines, damaged teeth, cracks and damaged bushings.
4. Inspect output carrier assembly for wear, damaged lugs, pinion gear damage, washer wear and pinion gear and pocket thrust washer surfaces for damage.
5. Measure pinion gear endplay as shown in the figure using a feeler gauge. Endplay should be .O09-.024 inch.
6. Inspect front internal ring gear for damage and cracks.
7. Inspect thrust washers, bearings and races for damage.
8. Inspect ring output speed sensor for tightness and damage.
9. Inspect reaction drum and carrier assembly for pinion gear and pocket thrust surface damage, cracks or damage to band apply surface and pinion gear damage.
10. Measure pinion gear endplay as shown in the figure using a feeler gauge. Endplay should be .009-.024 inch.
11. Inspect roller clutch assembly for damage to rollers, springs and cage surfaces.
12. Inspect sun gear and sun gear shaft for nicked, scored or worn bushings, damaged splines or teeth and cracks.
