Engine: Service and Repair


1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Mark hood hinge locations, then remove hood.
3. Remove air cleaner, radiator and fan shroud.
4. Label, then disconnect all electrical connectors and vacuum lines from engine.
5. Disconnect accelerator, cruise control and TVS linkage from engine, if equipped.
6. Disconnect and cap fuel lines.
7. Loosen power steering pump and position aside, if equipped.
8. Loosen air conditioning compressor and position aside, if equipped.
9. Raise and support vehicle.
10. Disconnect front exhaust pipes from exhaust manifold.
11. Remove starter motor from engine.
12. Remove flywheel, or torque converter undercover.
13. Remove flex plate to torque converter attaching bolts, if equipped.
14. Lower vehicle and support transmission.
15. Attach engine lifting equipment onto engine.
16. Remove bellhousing to engine attaching bolts.
17. Remove front engine mount through bolts.
18. Remove engine from vehicle.
19. Reverse procedure to install.
