Correct Labor Code Usage for Entertainment Systems (Radios, Remotes, Playback Units and CD Changers)

1990-99 Passenger Cars and Trucks
(Unless otherwise directed on specific vehicles by previous Corporate Service Bulletins)

This bulletin is to resolve the issue of improper use of labor codes for radio warranty. The following is a breakdown of the correct labor codes to use for the different components of the entertainment system.

Radios

Use the following labor codes when submitting warranty claims for factory or dealer installed radios. The radios can include a cassette or a CD player or both internal to the radio.

R0750 - Remove and replace radio, return to AC-Delco

R0752 - Remove radio, return to AC-Delco

R0753 - Reinstall radio, returned from AC-Delco

R0760 - Remove, repair and replace radio

Remote Cassette Players

Use the labor codes when submitting warranty claims on remote cassette players. These are units that are remote from the radio and only play a cassette. They may be mounted somewhere else in the dash or in the console.

R0770 - Remove and replace remote tape player,
return to AC-Delco

R0772 - Remove remote tape player, return to
AC-Delco

R0773 - Reinstall remote tape player, returned
from AC-Delco

R0780 - Remove, repair and replace remote tape
player

Remote CD Players

Use the labor codes when submitting warranty claims on remote CD players. These are units that are remote from the radio and only play a single CD. They may be mounted somewhere else in the dash or in the console.

R0830 - Remove and replace remote CD player,
return to AC-Delco

R0832 - Remove remote CD player, return to
AC-Delco

R0833 - Reinstall remote CD player, returned from
AC-Delco

R0840 - Remove, repair and replace remote CD
player

Rear Seat Audio Controls

Use labor code R0862 to submit warranty claims against rear seat audio controls. These are auxiliary radio controls with headphone jacks usually located in the back seat arm rests, on the back of the console or in the headliner.

CD Changers

Use labor code R0855 when submitting warranty claims for factory or dealer installed CD changers. This is for CD players that are not part of the radio and that hold more than one CD. They may be mounted in the dash, console or trunk.
