Owner Letter

Dear General Motors Customer

General Motors of Canada Limited has determined that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in CERTAIN 1995 Chevrolet and GMC C/K and C3500HD trucks with M30/MT1 automatic transmissions. A condition exists where the transmission shift cable lock clip may back out of its installed position resulting in loss of cable adjustment. Loss of adjustment could cause the transmission to not obtain mechanical "PARK" when the shift lever is placed in the "PARK" position. If this occurred, the "PARK" indicator light would not illuminate. However, if the driver failed to notice the indicator light was not illuminated and did not apply the park brake, unwanted vehicle movement could occur.

To correct this condition, your dealer will adjust the shift cable and install a redundant lock clip.

This service will be provided for you at no charge.

Please contact your GM dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service date.

If parts are required, ask your dealer for details regarding their availability. If parts are not in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling your service date.
