Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Owner Letter

Dear Chevrolet Customer:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the
National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

REASON FOR THIS RECALL

General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle
safety, exists in certain 1995 Chevrolet Suburbans and Tahoes equipped
with an L56/L65 diesel engine fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle
Safety Standard (FMVSS) 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" in that these
vehicles may have both SIR Caution Label and an Engine Start Label
installed on the same side of the driver's sun visor.

WHAT WE WILL DO

To correct this condition, it is necessary to remove the Engine Start
Label from the stowed side of the sun visor and install a new Engine
Start Label on the headliner in the sun visor depression. Since a new
label can be easily installed, and for your convenience, a new
label, along with installation instructions, will be sent to owners of
record. You may install the label or they may ask a dealer to perform
this service.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

Please contact your Chevrolet dealer as soon as possible to arrange a
service date. Instructions for making this correction have been sent to
your dealer. The labor time necessary to perform this service
correction is approximately 10 minutes. Please ask your dealer if you
wish to know how much additional time will be needed to schedule and
process your vehicle.

The enclosed owner reply card identifies your vehicle. Presentation of
this card to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction
in the shortest possible time. If you have sold or traded your
vehicle, please let us know by completing the postage paid reply card
and returning it to us.

Your Chevrolet dealer is best equipped to provide service to ensure
that your vehicle is corrected as promptly as possible. If, however,
you take your vehicle to your dealer on the agreed service date, and
they do not remedy this condition on that date or within five (5) days,
we recommend you contact the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center by
