Diagnostic Trouble Code 86 Shorted Antilock Indicator Lamp






Circuit Description

DTC 86 relates to malfunctions in the Antilock lamp circuit. When a malfunction occurs in the Antilock lamp circuit, the BPMV uses the Brake lamp in its place.

Important: Do not replace the BPMV for this DTC. A faulty BPMV will not cause this DTC to set.

Test Description






Check for a short to B+ in CKT 852.

Diagnostic Aids

Do not pierce the electrical connectors, wires, seals, or insulation during testing. Doing so will break the seal and lead to corrosion and failure of the wiring and terminals.
