Compressor Shaft Seal Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

- J 34614

1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Service and Repair
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. Remove the electric cooling fan on the passenger side of the vehicle.
4. Install a piece of cardboard where the electric cooling fan was in order to protect the radiator.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
6. Remove the tire and wheel on the passenger side of the vehicle.
7. Remove the engine splash shield on the passenger side of the vehicle.
8. Remove the A/C clutch coil.
9. Use the snap ring pliers in order to remove the A/C compressor shaft seal retainer ring.
10. Install the J 23128-A in order to remove the A/C compressor shaft seal.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Dip the new seal in clean 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
2. Install the A/C compressor shaft seal to J 23128-A
3. Install the J 34614 to the compressor shaft.
4. Remove the J 23128-A and J 34614.
5. Use the snap ring pliers in order to install the A/C compressor shaft seal retainer ring.
6. Install the A/C clutch coil.
7. Install the engine splash shield on the passenger side of the vehicle.
8. Install the tire and wheel on the passenger side of the vehicle.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Remove the piece of cardboard.
11. Install the electric cooling fan.
12. Install the drive belt.
13. Evacuate, recharge and leak test the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. Service and Repair
