Evaporative Emission Canister Vent Solenoid Valve Replacement (Rear of Tank)
Removal Procedure
Note: Clean the evaporative emission (EVAP) connections and surrounding areas prior to disconnecting the fittings in order to avoid possible system contamination.
1. Lift and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect the solenoid vent filter (1) from the fill pocket by squeezing the base of the solenoid vent filter to release the tabs.
3. Remove the tie strap (1) that holds the solenoid vent line to the fuel fill pipe.
4. Disengage the clip (1) from the EVAP solenoid purge hose.
5. Disconnect the chassis wiring harness electrical connector from the EVAP canister vent solenoid.
6. Disconnect the EVAP vent solenoid pipe quick connect fitting (1) from the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Procedures.
7. Push on the retaining tab (1) to release the EVAP canister vent solenoid (2).
8. Slide the EVAP canister vent solenoid (2) off the bracket towards the passenger side of the vehicle.
9. Position and secure the EVAP canister vent solenoid out of the way.
10. Lower the fuel tank half way. 11. Remove the EVAP canister solenoid vent hose from the brake pipe clips (1).
12. Remove the EVAP canister vent solenoid assembly from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Position and install the EVAP canister vent solenoid to the vehicle.
2. Install the EVAP canister solenoid vent hose from the brake pipe clips (1).
3. Position and secure the EVAP canister vent solenoid out of the way.
4. Reinstall the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (25 Ext/Crew Cab With 26 Gal Tank) Removal and ReplacementFuel Tank Replacement (15 Reg/Ext/Crew Cab w/34 Gal Tank) Removal and ReplacementFuel Tank Replacement (Cab/Chassis - Rear) Removal and ReplacementFuel Tank Replacement (Cab/Chassis - Front) Removal and ReplacementFuel Tank Replacement (15 Ext/Crew Cab With 26 Gal Tank) Removal and ReplacementFuel Tank Replacement (35 Reg/Ext/Crew Cab With 34 Gal Tank) Removal and ReplacementFuel Tank Replacement (15 Rec Cab With 26 Gal Tank) Removal and ReplacementFuel Tank Replacement (15/25 Reg/Ext/Crw Cab With 34 Gal Tnk) Removal and Replacement.
5. Slide the EVAP canister vent solenoid (2) onto the bracket towards the drivers side of the vehicle.
6. Ensure that the EVAP canister vent solenoid (2) engages the fuel tank bracket retainer (1).
7. Connect the EVAP vent solenoid pipe quick connect fitting (1) to the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Procedures.
8. Connect the chassis wiring harness electrical connector to the EVAP canister vent solenoid.
9. Install the clip (1) to the evap solenoid purge hose.
10. Install the tie strap (2) that holds the solenoid vent line to the fuel fill pipe.
11. Connect the solenoid vent filter to the fill pocket by pressing the solenoid filter (1) into the fill pocket slots to engage the locking tabs.
12. Lower the vehicle.
