SYMPTOM/CONDITION

Subject model vehicles may exhibit a condition of rough cold fast idle and cold off idle acceleration sag until engine warm up is complete. This condition occurs primarily in ambient be temperatures of 65~ to 70~F or above.

PARTS REQUIRED

Cold Driveability Improvement Kit PN 4342778

Contains the following:

1 - Cold Vacuum Switch - 3 Port PN 4041235
1 - Vacuum Hose Harness NPN

Must be ordered separately:

1 - Authorized Modification Label PN 4275086

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Drain and save approximately one gallon of coolant from radiator..

2. Remove the front most plug on the left hand side (driver's side) of intake manifold coolant passage (Figure 1).
3. Install 3-port CVS Switch, PN 4041235, using Miller Special Tool # C4412-2 7/8" Deep Slotted Socket. Torque to 25 foot pounds.

4. Refill cooling system with coolant saved from Step 1.

5. Plug in 3-port connectpr of Vacuum Overlay Harness, PN 4306292, to 3-port CVS switch (Figure 2).
6. Remove vacuum hose at EGR valve nipple and connect it to the lower port of CVS switch. Connect the middle hose of overlay harness installed in Step 5 to the EGR valve vacuum nipple (see Figure 2 for detail).
7. Start engine and check for vacuum and coolant leaks.

8. Allow engine to fully warm up and reset basic timing to 12~B +/- 2~B from 16~B. Reset curb idle speed.

9. Type the following information on Authorized Modification Label PN 4275086 (Figure 3).
Upper Section

"Installed Cold Drive & Idle Improvement Kit PN 4342778."
