Throttle Position Switch: Testing and Inspection

Dual connector:

On most systems, grounding the carburetor switch eliminates all spark advance.
1. Turn ignition Off, then disconnect 10-way connector from computer.
2. Check to ensure throttle is fully closed, then check continuity between pin 7 of harness connector and ground using suitable ohmmeter, Fig. 1.
3. If continuity is not present, check for open circuit in carburetor switch wiring circuit and repair as necessary.
4. Open throttle and check continuity between pin 7 of harness connector and ground. Continuity should not be present.
