DO NOT START THE ENGINE WITH THE TESTER INSTALLED

NOTE: Perform the test before installing the electronic module. Ignore additional L.E.D. lights that are not specified.

(1) Start and run the engine for 15 seconds to build up vacuum and turn the engine off.

(2) With the IGNITION OFF plug the tester into the speed control wire harness. Plug the electronic module into the tester. Assure that the foil contacts on the module are on the same side as the foil contacts on the tester.

(3) With the IGNITION key in the ON position (ENGINE NOT RUNNING), the IGNITION and SPEED LIGHT should be ILLUMINATED. Push the ON lever on control switch and the SET and VAC/VENT LIGHTS should also illuminate. The SPEED LIGHT may or may not be on depending on the type of speed sensor or position of car.

- DOMESTIC VEHICLES -

(4) REED SWITCH TYPE: Roll the vehicle a few feet to check the speed sensor. The SPEED LIGHT should FLASH which indicates the sensor is working. CAUTION: To avoid damage to speed sensor, do not use test lamp to check speed sensor. (Refer to V.O.M. Test Procedure from service manual for further testing).

- COLT -

(4a.) INDUCTIVE TYPE: SPEED LIGHT will be DIMLY illuminated.

(5) The BRAKE/CLUTCH LIGHT should be illuminated (DIM) when the BRAKE PEDAL is depressed and VAC and VENT LIGHTS go out.

The VENT LIGHT should FLICKER or be OFF. If the lights respond as indicated, but the accelerator pedal does not move as indicated, then fault is not in the electronic module. NOTE: If test is repeated more than once, pull the module. Restart car to replenish vacuum and reinstall module. If first test fails RERUN test once or twice before replacing parts.

(8) Press the BRAKE PEDAL and hold. The BRAKE CLUTCH LIGHT should come on and the ACCELERATOR PEDAL should return to the idle position. VAC and VENT LIGHTS will go on when brake is released.

The accelerator pedal should move down and hold pedal to floor. NOTE: If VAC and VENT LIGHTS illuminate as buttons are depressed, but accelerator pedal does not move as indicated then fault is NOT in the electronic module.

(13) Release the VACUUM BUTTON and the pedal should hold.

(14) Release the VENT BUTTON and the accelerator pedal should return to the idle position. NOTE: If the valve body is wired correctly and functioning, an audible click should be heard from the unit when either one of the buttons are pushed.
