Models: 1987 Model Year Passenger Cars Equipped With a 2.5L Fuel Injected Engine, Automatic Transmission and Federal Emission Control System and Built Before February 15,1987 (MDH Prior To 02-15-00):
^ Plymouth Caravelle and Reliant
^ Dodge Aries, Daytona, Lancer and 600
^ Chrysler LeBaron 2-Door, LeBaron 4-Door, LeBaron GTS, Town & Country Wagon and New Yorker
The listed early-built 1987 model passenger cars may emit carbon monoxide (CO) in excess of Federal Emissions Standard due to rich shifted fuel injectors. To correct the condition, the fuel injectors on involved cars must be inspected and replaced as needed.
Listed model cars which have had fuel injectors replaced under warranty after January 25, 1987 (LOP 14-30-20) received corrected injectors and have therefore been deleted from this recall.

Vehicle List
Each dealer to whom involved cars were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same location) will receive a vehicle list with this letter arranged in Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) sequence. Owners known to Chrysler are also listed. The lists are for dealer reference in arranging for service of involved cars.
Each Dodge or Chrysler-Plymouth dealer without a Vehicle List will receive an information copy of this letter by Compak Mail for use in performing the service on involved cars upon request.
Parts
Fuel Injector Parts Packages, PN C3940398, are being shipped at dealer cost to all involved dealers for service of affected cars. Each dealer to whom involved cars were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same location) will recieve enough parts packages to service 25% of those cars.
