Compressor Assembly

If center O-ring was removed, install new dry Out-ring by carefully stretching ring and passing it over rear housing to center of compressor body. Oil new Out-ring with 500 SUS refrigerant oil and position into seal groove. Push two body halves together, ensuring Out-ring and housing are properly located.
1. Install dowel pins in rear of compressor body. Install suction reed valve, rear valve plate assembly, and steel N-gasket.
2. Place new Out-ring coated with refrigerant oil into sealing groove of rear cover.
3. Install rear cover to rear of compressor housing.
4. Hold compressor body and rear cover together and set compressor on rear cover.
5. Install dowel pins into front of compressor, then install suction reed valve, front valve plate assembly, and new steel N-gasket.
6. Clean crankshaft and coat with refrigerant oil.
7. Lightly lubricate crankshaft gas seal cartridge with refrigerant oil and install on crankshaft so that cartridge is properly positioned on slot of crankshaft.
8. Lubricate crankshaft seal seat cavity of front housing with refrigerant oil. Lubricate crankshaft seal seat and seal seat Out-ring with refrigerant oil. Install Out-ring on seal seat and install seal seat in front cover using suitable socket.
9. Lubricate front cover Out-ring with refrigerant oil and place in seal groove of front housing.
10. Install front cover to compressor body. If cover does not align with dowel pins on installation, remove cover and ensure carbon seal of crankshaft seal cartridge is properly positioned in seal cartridge and not sticking to seal seat plate.
11. Install 6 compressor through bolts, tighten finger tight, then torque to 260 inch lbs.
12. Install key in crankshaft, then install felt shaft seal and retainer into front housing and position at base of housing neck.
13. Fill compressor, through suction port, with 9 fluid ounces of refrigeration oil (500 SUS).
14. Ensure compressor turns smoothly by rotating crankshaft 5 turns. Ensure front housing clutch coil alignment pin is properly installed.
