Output Diagnostic Test Mode (Circuit Actuation Tests)


1. Connect tester C-4895 or equivalent and access fault codes as outlined.
2. Wait until Code 55 has been displayed indicating end of fault code display.
3. Depress ATM button on tool to activate display, holding button down until desired display code appears.
4. Each display code will activate a specific current as follows:
a. 01--Spark activation once every 2 seconds.
b. 02--Injector activation once every 2 seconds.
c. 03--AIS activation; one step open/one step closed every 4 seconds.
d. 04--Radiator fan relay activation once every 2 seconds.
e. 05--A/C WOT relay activation once every 2 seconds.
f. 06--ASD relay activation once every 2 seconds.
g. 07--Purge solenoid activation; one toggle every 2 seconds.
h. 08--Shift indicator lamp activation; one toggle every 2 seconds (1986 models). Speed Control Activation; with switch in on position, speed control vent and vacuum every 2 seconds (1987---88 models).
i. 09--Alternator field control activation; one toggle every 2 seconds.
j. 10--Shift indicator lamp activation; one toggle every 2 seconds (1987-88 models).
k. 11--EGR diagnostic solenoid activation; one toggle every 2 seconds (1988 models).
5. The computer will continue to turn the selected circuit on and off for as long as 5 minutes to allow operation to be observed.
6. If selected circuit fails to operate, check continuity of wiring and operation of individual components and repair or replace as needed.
7. To stop test cycle, either depress ATM button to move to the next circuit or turn off ignition.
8. If ATM button is not depressed and the ignition switch is left on, the computer will continue cycling the selected circuit for 5 minutes and then shut the system off.
