Variable Displacement Compressor

WARNING: EYE PROTECTION MUST BE USED WHEN SERVICING AN
AIR-CONDITIONING REFRIGERANT SYSTEM. TURN OFF (ROTATE CLOCKWISE) ALL VALVES ON EOUIPMENT BEING USED BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THIS OPERATION. PERSONNEL INJURY CAN RESULT
.

Refrigerant Charging Station:

Manifold Gauge Set:

When servicing a Chrysler Motors air-conditioning system, it is recommended that a suitable air-conditioning charging station or manifold gauge set be used in conjunction with a bulk-type refrigerant drum.

SUCTION (LOW PRESSURE) GAUGE CONNECTION
1. Remove the cap from 3/8 in. service port on the air-conditioning compressor or on the suction line near the compressor.
2. Check all valves on the equipment being used to verify they are closed.
3. inspect the hose gasket in the service port connector at the end of the BLUE hose. if the gasket is flawed, replace it.

Service Port Connections:

4. Start threading hose connector onto the service port untill the valve core depressor in the hose end makes contact with the valve core in the service port. Quickly secure hose connector to the service port to avoid loosing refrigerant.

To disconnect suction gauge hose, push and hold the BLUE hose end toward the service port to keep the gasket in contact with the service port. Quickly rotate the connector counterciockwise, when the connector is backed off all the way, point hose end toward floor. Install the service port cap.

DISCHARGE (HIGH PRESSURE) GAUGE CONNECTION
1. Remove the service port cap from the 1/4 in. service port on the discharge line between the compressor and condenser.
2. Check all valves on the equipment being used to verify they are closed.
3. Inspect the hose gasket in the service port connector at the end of the RED hose. If the gasket is flawed, replace it.

Discharge Hose Adapter:

4. Use a suitable (3/8 in. male to 1/4 in. female) adapter with a good gasket, threaded securely intp the end of the RED hose connector.
5. Start threading 1/4 in. hose adapter connector onto the service port until the valve core depressor in the adapter makes contact with the valve core in the service port. Quickly secure adapter connector to service port to avoid loosing refrigerant.

To disconnect suction gauge hose, push and hold the RED hose end toward the service port to keep the gasket in contact with service port. Quickly rotate the connector counterclockwise. Install the service port cap.

EVACUATION/REFRIGERANT CHARGE LINE CONNECTION
The center manifold YELLOW or WHITE hose is used to discharge, evacuate, and charge the refrigerant system. When the discharge or suction valves are opened the refrigerant in the system will escape from the hose.
