SYMPTOM/CONDITION:


A squealing or squawking noise coming from the steering column.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:


This repair procedure involves lubricating the steering shaft seal.

Figure 1:





1. Remove the retaining nuts for the cover and shield for the steering shaft seal. (Figure 1)

2. Lift up the steering shaft seal and clean off old grease.


3. Fill the seal cavity completely with lithium based grease, such as MOPAR Lubriplate P/N 4549615 or equivalent.

4. Reinstall the steering shaft seal to top of dash cover.

5. Reinstall the cover, shield and retaining nuts.

POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
