The cooling system on except Turbo III engines requires venting by removal of the plug on top of the water box. On the Turbo III engines, venting requires removing the coolant temperature sensor on top of the thermostat housing.

Fill the system with the recommended 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water until mixture reaches the vent holes, then tighten the vent plug, on except Turbo III engines, or coolant temperature sensor, on Turbo III engines, to specifications. Continue to fill cooling system until full.
