Reference: Advanced Recall Information mailed to involved Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler dealers on the above subject in November, 1990.

The referenced Advanced Recall Information letters instructed dealers to inspect for and correct any air bag system front impact sensors which were not mounted to the radiator closure panels on involved vehicles. Notification letters are now being mailed to owners of involved vehicles for which the recall service has not yet been completed according to current records.

Important: Some of the involved cars may still be in dealer stock. Be sure to complete the service on these cars before retail delivery.

Details of this service action are explained in the following sections.

Note: No videotape of the service procedure for this recall will be provided with the Master Tech program because the service requirements are simple and do not require a video demonstration.

Vehicle List

Vehicle lists were mailed to involved dealers with the Advanced Recall Information letters of November, 1990.

Parts

For attachment of loose sensors, order the required number of impact sensor mounting plates (two per car), PN 6502044, and mounting bolts (six per car), PN 6501888, from a Parts Depot.

Owner Notification and Service Scheduling

All involved car owners known to Chrysler whose vehicles have not received the recall service are being notified of the service requirement by first class mail. They are requested to schedule appointments for the service with their dealers at the earliest possible date. A copy of the owner notification letter is attached.

Enclosed with each owner notification is an Owner Recall Notification Form # 83-295-0019. The involved vehicle and recall are identified on the form for owner or dealer reference as needed.
