Cruise Control Switch: Service and Repair

The speed control switch is mounted in the steering wheel and wired through the clock spring device under the steering wheel hub.
1. Disable airbag as described under "Airbag System Disarming."
2. Remove airbag module as described under "Airbag Module" in the "Passive Restraint Systems" section.
3. Turn ignition switch to Off position.
4. Remove two screws from back side of steering wheel.
5. Rock switch away from airbag or horn pad while lifting switch out of steering wheel. Do not point airbag module toward yourself or others when performing this operation to prevent injury in case of accidental deployment of airbag module.
6. Disconnect 4-way electrical connector.
7. Reverse procedure to install, sliding the forward edge of switch under airbag or horn pad. Line up locating pins on switch with holes in steering wheel frame. Do not point airbag module toward yourself or others when performing this operation to prevent injury in case of accidental deployment of airbag module.
