Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

CAUTION: The cooling module assembly must be removed to service the condenser. Removing the condenser using other methods may cause damage to the condenser and/or radiator assembly.

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

Sight Shield Removal:




2. Remove sight shield.
3. Remove right and left headlamp modules.
4. Drain engine cooling system.
5. Remove refrigerant from A/C system using a recovery machine.
6. Disconnect and cap A/C lines at condenser.

Radiator Crossmember:




7. Remove upper radiator crossmember.
8. Remove hose clamps and hoses from radiator.
9. Disconnect automatic transaxle cooler line hoses from cooler. Temporarily plug cooler lines after removal.
10. Disconnect fan wiring connector from RFI Module.
11. Remove upper radiator mounting screws to body. Access to mounting screws can be obtained through hole in headlamp module bracket.
12. Lift entire cooling module from vehicle.

CAUTION: Avoid bending or breaking condenser inlet tube, and do not damage radiator cooling fins or coolant tubes during module removal.

A/C Condenser:




13. Remove air conditioning condenser attaching screws located at front of radiator to separate radiator from condenser.

INSTALLATION
For installation, reverse the above procedures. Charge system and check for leaks.
