Transmission Control System Relay: Description and Operation

CIRCUIT OPERATION
The Transmission Control Relay, located in the Power Distribution Center (PDC), is used to power the Transmission Solenoids and Pressure Switches. Power for the coil side of the relay is supplied from the Transmission Control Module (TCM) on circuit T15. Ground for the coil side is provided on circuit Z1 and terminates at the left front frame rail.

When the relay is energized, contacts inside the relay CLOSE and connect circuits A14, which is a direct battery feed, and circuit T16, which connects to the solenoid and pressure switch assembly. Circuit T16 is also spliced to the TCM and is used to control the switched battery feed.
