Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

NOTE: This engine uses two knock sensors. The sensors thread into the cylinder block, directly below the intake manifold.

REMOVAL
1. Remove intake manifold plenum.
2. Remove intake manifold.
3. Disconnect knock sensor electrical connectors.
4. Using a crowfoot socket remove the knock sensors.


INSTALLATION
1. Install knock sensors.
2. Torque sensor to 7 ft.lbs. (10 Nm).

NOTE: Over or under tightening effects knock sensor performance, possibly causing improper spark control.

3. Install intake manifold.
4. Install intake manifold plenum.
