Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair
The ACM/Air Bag System Diagnostic Module (ASDM) and SRS diagnosis unit (SDU) contain one of the impact sensors which enables system to activate air bag. The ACM/Air Bag Electronic Control Module (AECM) and SRS air bag control unit (SRS-ECU) contain the impact sensors which enables system to activate air bag.To avoid accidental deployment, never connect ACM/ASDM, ACM/AECM, SDU or SRS-ECU electrically to system unless it is bolted to vehicle.
1. Disarm air bag as described under Air Bag System Disarming & Arming at Air Bag Systems/ Service and Repair.
2. On five passenger models, remove upper console seal and ash receiver then shifter knob and bezel.
3. On six passenger models, remove lower center retaining screws and trim cover.
4. On all models, disconnect ACM four-way and 13-way connectors.
5. Remove module mounting screws and module.
6. Reverse procedure to install, ensuring arrow is pointing forward and insert tab is in support bracket slot, then torque screws to 105-125 inch lbs.
