If the steering wheel demonstrates right movement or vehicle leads to right under acceleration perform the Repair Procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

AR(2) 04797441 Shim, Engine Mount

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves measuring the vehicle frame rail height and inner CV joint height from a ground plane and shimming the right engine mount as necessary.

1. Place vehicle on an alignment hoist, platform hoist or over a pit to gain access to the bottom side of the vehicle. The tires must rest on a level surface left to right. This establishes a ground plane.

2. Place a straight edge between the left and right surfaces of the hoist directly under the engine mounts. Take a measurement from the bottom of the engine cradle to the bottom of the straight edge on both sides. Record the difference left to right.

NOTE:
ACCURACY IS IMPORTANT, A STEEL COMBINATION SQUARE WORKS BEST AND ALL MEASUREMENTS MUST BE TAKEN PERPENDICULAR TO THE GROUND PLANE.

3. Place the straight edge directly under the inner CV joints. Take a measurement from the bottom of the inner stainless steel boot clamp to the bottom edge of the straight edge. Do this for the left and right side. Record the difference left to right.

NOTE:
IF LEFT CV JOINT IS LOWER THAN RIGHT THIS PROCEDURE CANNOT BE USED.

4. Install the number of shims, p/n 04797441, between the right motor mount and cradle as indicated in illustration, tighten mount to cradle nuts to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.).

NOTE:
DO NOT MIX STANDARD DUTY (SDC SALES CODE) SPRINGS, P/N'S 004 THRU 008 WITH HEAVY DUTY (SDE SALES CODE) SPRINGS, P/N'S 014 THRU 016.

NOTE:
DO NOT USE MORE THAN TWO SHIMS (4 MM EACH) AS THE STUDS ON THE ENGINE MOUNT WILL NOT ALLOW FOR PROPER THREAD ENGAGEMENT.

5. Road test vehicle to settle parts into their new position and verify repair. Repeat procedure if condition still exists.

POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
