Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Testing and Inspection

ECT Sensor:




1. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

2. Measure the resistance between the sensor terminals.

Standard value:
9 - 11 K Ohms [at 25 °C (77 °F)]
0.6 - 0.8 K Ohms [at 100 °C (212 °F)]


If not within specifications, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.

3. Apply sealant to threaded portion. Use MOPAR threal sealant Part No. 4318031, Loctite 24200 or equivalent.

4. Install engine coolant temperature sensor and tighten it to 7 Nm (5 ft.lbs.).

5. Fasten harness connectors securely.
