Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Testing and Inspection




ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CHECK
1. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
2. Measure the resistance between the sensor terminals.

Standard value:
9 - 11 kOhms [at 25 °C (77 °F)]
0.6 - 0.8 kOhms [at 100 °C (212 °F)]

If not within specifications, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.

3. Apply sealant to threaded portion.

Specified sealant: Loctite 24200 or equivalent

4. Install engine coolant temperature sensor and tighten it to specified torque.

Sensor tightening torque: 7 Nm (5 ft.lbs.)

5. Fasten harness connectors securely.
