Removal and Replacement

HOOD

REMOVAL




1. Open and support the hood.
2. Remove the fasteners that secure the silencer to the rear of the hood and disconnect the washer hose from the washer nozzle.
3. Mark the hinge attachment locations on the hood with a grease pencil or other suitable device to provide reference marks for reinstallation.
4. Remove the upper nuts that secure the hinge (2) to the hood (1).
5. With the help of an assistant, remove the lower nuts that secure the hinge to the hood and carefully remove the hood from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION




1. With the aid of an assistant, support and position the hood (1) to the hinges (2) and loosely install the nuts that secure the hood to the hinges.
2. Align the hood to the hinges using the previously marked locations.
3. Tighten the nuts that secure hood to the hinges to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect the washer supply hose to the washer nozzle and install the silencer to the hood.
5. Verify hood alignment and operation. The hood should fit flush across the top surfaces along fenders and have even gaps aligned to 4 mm (0.160in.) to the adjacent body panels.
