Front Seat Back

FRONT SEAT BACK

WARNING: Before servicing the seat back the airbag system must be disarmed. Failure to do so may result in accidental deployment of the airbag and possible personal injury. Refer to restraint systems for service procedures.

CAUTION: Do not reuse the recliner assembly attaching bolts.

REMOVAL

COUPE




1. Remove seat from vehicle.
2. Remove front seat inboard cushion side shield.




3. Remove the seat back recliner handle/fold flat handle and front outboard seat cushion shield.




4. Remove seat armrest plug (2).




5. Remove seat armrest (1) and lumbar handle (3) if equipped.




6. Disengage seat back cover (1) and locking strip (2) across lower back cover.




7. Pull the zipper end(s) out on each side of the seat back and unzip the front seat back cover (1).




8. Raise cover (2) and remove the push pins (1) and board.




9. Remove upper riser shield, if equipped.
10. Move seat cover and cushion to access the front seat back recliner.
11. Remove two attaching lumbar actuator screws (1) from the inner seat back frame.
12. Move lumbar actuator free the front seat back recliner.




13. Remove screws (2) attaching recliner to seat back cushion frame on both sides.




14. Vehicle with Seat Airbag and/or Heated Seat System, remove front seat cushion (2) frame.Remove two front side screws and two rear screws.
15. Disconnect any electrical connectors and wire ties from the seat back that are connected under the seat cushion, if equipped.
16. Remove seat back frame from seat assembly.

CONVERTIBLE




1. Remove seat from vehicle.
2. Remove front seat inboard cushion side shield (1).




3. Remove the seat back recliner handle/fold flat handle (1) and front outboard seat cushion shield.




4. Disconnect electrical connectors (1), if equipped.




5. Remove seat armrest plug (2).




6. Remove seat armrest (1) and lumbar handle (3) if equipped.




7. Pull the zipper end(s) out on each side of the seat back and unzip the front seat back cover (1).
8. Disengage seat back cover locking strip across lower back cover.




9. Cut hog rings (1) and release cover.
10. Remove upper riser shield, if equipped.
11. Move seat cover and cushion to access the front seat back recliner.




12. Remove two attaching lumbar actuator screws (1) from the inner seat back frame.




13. Move lumbar actuator (1) free the front seat back recliner.




14. Remove screws (1) attaching recliner to seat back cushion frame on both sides.




15. Vehicle with Seat Airbag and/or Heated Seat System, remove front seat cushion frame. Remove two front side screws (1) and two rear screws (2).




16. Disconnect any electrical fasteners (1) and wire ties from the seat back that are connected under the seat cushion, if equipped.
17. Remove seat back frame from seat assembly.

INSTALLATION

COUPE




1. Position seat back on seat back frame.
2. Start the screws (2) attaching recliner to seat back cushion frame on both sides.
3. Vehicle with Seat Airbag and/or Heated Seat System, connect electrical connector(s) under the seat cushion. Using wire ties secure the wire harness to the seat cushion frame.




4. Install two front side screws (1) and two rear screws attaching seat cushion.
5. Tighten screws attaching recliner to seat cushion frame. Tighten screws to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.).




6. Place lumbar actuator into position, and install the two attaching lumbar actuator screws (1) from the inner seat back frame.




7. Pull seat cushion and seat cover (2) into position. Install push pins (1).




8. Pull seat cover into position and zip seat back cover (2).




9. Insert the zipper (1) end inside of seat cover.




10. Engage seat back cover locking strip (2).




11. Install seat armrest (1) and lumbar handle (3) if equipped.




12. Install seat armrest plug (2).




13. Connect wire connectors (1), if equipped.




14. Install front seat cushion shield and seat back recliner handle/fold flat handle.




15. Install the inner seat cushion shield and inner seat belt. Tighten seat belt anchor bolt to 40 N.m (30 ft. lbs.).
16. Install seat in vehicle.

CONVERTIBLE




1. Place seat back into position.
2. Install screws attaching (1) recliner to seat back cushion frame on both sides.




3. Connect any electrical fasteners (1) and wire ties to under the seat cushion, if equipped.




4. Install the front seat cushion. Install two front side screws (1) and two rear screws (1).




5. Place lumbar actuator back into position (1).




6. Install two attaching lumbar actuator screws (1) into the inner seat back frame.
7. Move seat cover into position.
8. Install upper riser shield, if equipped.




9. Pull seat cover tight and install the hog rings (1).




10. Pull the zipper end(s) down on each side of the seat back and zip the front seat back cover.




11. Pull the seat cover together and engage seat back cover locking strip (1) across lower back cover.




12. Install seat armrest (1).




13. Install seat armrest plug (2).




14. Connect wire connectors (1).




15. If equipped. Install the seat back recliner handle (3) fold flat handle and front outboard seat cushion shield.




16. Install front seat inboard cushion side shield (1).
17. Install seat from vehicle.
