Air Duct: Service and Repair

AIR OUTLET DISTRIBUTION DUCT
1. Remove the instrument panel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Instrument Panel Systems for the proper procedures. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Trim, Dashboard/Instrument panel, Service and Repair, Instrument Panel Service Procedures, Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement, Instrument Panel Assembly

2. Remove the screws that secure the air outlet distribution duct to the instrument panel.
3. Disengage the right demister hose from the integral retainer on the right side of the air outlet distribution duct and the intermediate demister duct.
4. Disconnect both demister hoses from the nipples on the air outlet distribution duct.
5. Disengage the air outlet distribution duct from the left panel duct intermediate elbow.
6. Disengage the air outlet distribution duct from the right panel duct.
7. Remove the air outlet distribution duct from the instrument panel.
8. Reverse the removal procedures to install. Tighten the screws to 2.3 Nm (20 in.lbs.).

CENTER AIR OUTLET DUCT
1. Remove the center bezel from the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Systems for the proper procedures.
2. Remove the screws that secure the center air outlet duct to the instrument panel.
3. Disengage the center air outlet duct from the air outlet distribution duct.
4. Remove the center air outlet duct from the instrument panel.
5. Reverse the removal procedures to install. Tighten the screws to 2.3 Nm (20 in.lbs.).

DEFROSTER DUCT
1. Remove the instrument panel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Trim, Dashboard/Instrument panel, Service and Repair, Instrument Panel Service Procedures, Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement, Instrument Panel Assembly

2. Remove the defroster duct from the top of the heater-A/C unit housing.
3. Reverse the removal procedures to install.

DEMISTER HOSES
1. Remove the air outlet distribution duct from the instrument panel. Refer to Air Outlet Distribution Duct for the proper procedures.
2. Disengage the demister hose from the nipple on the air outlet distribution duct and, for the right demister hose only, from the integral retainer on the right side of the air outlet distribution duct.
3. Disengage the right demister hose from the intermediate duct, or disengage the left demister hose from the left demister outlet.
4. Remove the demister hose from the instrument panel.
5. Reverse the removal procedures to install.

INTERMEDIATE DEMISTER DUCT
1. Remove the right demister hose from the instrument panel. Refer to Demister Hoses for the proper procedures.
2. Remove the screws that secure the intermediate demister duct to the instrument panel.
3. Disengage the intermediate demister duct from the right demister outlet.
4. Remove the intermediate demister duct from the instrument panel.
5. Reverse the removal procedures to install. Tighten the screws to 2.3 Nm (20 in.lbs.).

INTERMEDIATE PANEL DUCT ELBOW
1. Remove the air outlet distribution duct from the instrument panel. Refer to Air Outlet Distribution Duct for the proper procedures.
2. Disengage the intermediate panel duct elbow from the left panel duct.
3. Reverse the removal procedures to install.

PANEL DUCTS
1. Remove the air outlet distribution duct from the instrument panel. Refer to Air Outlet Distribution Duet for the proper procedures.
2. For the left panel duct only, remove the intermediate elbow from the instrument panel. Refer to Intermediate Panel Duet Elbow for the proper procedures.
3. Remove the screws that secure the panel duct to the instrument panel.
4. Disengage the panel duct from the panel outlet.
5. Remove the panel duct from the instrument panel.
6. Reverse the removal procedures to install. Tighten the screws to 2.3 Nm (20 in.lbs.).

REAR FLOOR DUCTS
1. Remove the center floor console from the vehicle. Refer to Body for the proper procedures.
2. Remove the front floor carpet from the vehicle. Refer to Body for the proper procedures.
3. Remove the screws that secure the rear floor duct to the top of the floor panel console bracket.
4. Disengage the left floor duct from the right floor duct at the cross-tunnel connection.
5. For the right side rear floor duct only, disengage the rear floor duct from the rear seat duct elbow.
6. Remove the rear floor duct from the vehicle.
7. Reverse the removal procedures to install. Tighten the screws to 2.3 Nm (20 in.lbs.).

REAR SEAT DUCT ELBOW
1. Remove the right side floor duct from the vehicle. Refer to Rear Floor Duct for the proper procedures.
2. Disengage the remove the two push pin retainers that secure the rear seat duct elbow to the bottom of the front floor duct.
3. Remove the rear seat duct elbow from the front floor duct.
4. Reverse the removal procedures to install.
