Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

The evaporator is located within the heater-A/C unit housing. In order to access the evaporator for service, the heater-A/C unit housing must be removed from the vehicle and disassembled.

REMOVAL
1. Remove and disassemble the heater-A/C unit housing. Refer to: "Housing Assembly HVAC : Service and Repair" Service and Repair

2. Lift the evaporator out of the lower half of the heater-A/C unit housing.

INSTALLATION
1. Position the evaporator in the Tower half of the heater-A/C unit housing. Be certain that the evaporator foam wrap is in place.
2. Assemble and reinstall the heater-A/C unit housing.

NOTE: If the evaporator is replaced, add 59 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the compressor in the vehicle.
