Heater Hose: Service and Repair

WARNING: REVIEW THE WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS BEFORE PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING OPERATION.

REMOVAL
1. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System for the proper procedures.

2. Using spring tension clamp pliers, slide the hose clamps that are clamped over the nipples at each end of the hose toward the center of the heater hose to be removed. Release the clamp when it is off of the nipple.

CAUTION: When removing the heater hose from the heater core inlet or outlet nipples DO NOT apply excessive pressure. Excessive pressure may damage the nipples and/or the heater core causing an engine coolant leak.

3. Grasp the end of the heater hose firmly and carefully twist the hose back and forth while pulling it away from the barbed end of the nipple. Repeat this step for the opposite end of the heater hose.

INSTALLATION
1. Grasp the end of the heater hose firmly and carefully twist the hose back and forth while pushing it onto the barbed end of the nipple. Repeat this step for the opposite end of the heater hose.
2. Using spring tension clamp pliers, slide the hose clamps from the center of the hose toward each nipple. Release the clamp when it is over the nipple.
3. Refill the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System for the proper procedures.
